Survey types:

Pre-Purchase Survey
Probably the most common type of Marine Survey. As the name indicates, it involves a thorough inspection – usually as a condition of sale, prior to the purchase of the vessel being completed.

Insurance Survey
This type of survey is usually required  by an insurance company before they agree to extend insurance cover for a vessel. It is becoming more common especially with older model boats on the market.

Damage Survey
Usually done to document the nature and extent of damage prior to repair being undertaken, occasionally as estimate for the actual repairs may be required.
